women of colour sci fi book club, y’all?
i was thinkin bout starting a tumblr book club for works of speculative fiction (sci fi, fantasy, afrofuturism, afrosurrealism, magical realism, paranormal, whatever) by women of colour.
whatchy’allthink? i know i aint got that many followers, but maybe if y’all reblogged we could spread this shit around? like cocoa butter?
possible books: any and all things by octavia butler, including her short stories; beloved by toni morrison; who fears death by nnedi okorafor, also akata witch by her; the gilda stories by jewelle gomez; so far from god by ana castillo; the inheritance trilogy by n.k. jemisin; the marie laveau novels by jewell parker rhodes; woman who thought she was a planet by vandana singh; blood colony (or anything) by tananarive due; the new moon’s arms by nalo hopkinson (these are mostly black authors ‘cause that’s who i’m most familiar with)
i’m sure there’s a lot a good shit out there i aint heard of. we could also talk bout movies, graphic novels/comics.
thoughts? we’d basically just have a date where we’re supposed to have read the book, and blog the discussion.
we could call it, “Book club for women whose asses got left by the Mothership.”
