Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will launch on September 18th as a Beamdog exclusive. It will retail for 19.99 but you can get it for 17.99 if you pre-order it here this also will allow you to pre-load the game first.
The Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition is also planned for release on iPad, Mac, and Android. All of these are as of right now planned to release at the same time or close to the PC version of the game. The tablet versions will cost less at 9.99 but the characters Dorn and Neera (3 dollars each) and other DLC will be in app purchases. But the game will still contain its graphical improvements as shown in the various screen shots. If you purchase the PC or Mac version all the new characters and The Black Pit are included. The game is also planned to be cross-platform save and multi-player compatible and the game will work if you load if you have the full PC version but have not bought the DLC on your iPad or Android. The game will not be compatible with the original Baldur’s Gate for multi-player however.
Dorn, Neera and Rasaad are all romance options for the player character. These characters are also planned to be carried over to Baldur’s Gate 2: Enhanced Edition.
The Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition can be played strictly offline once it is downloaded. But the game includes significantly upgraded multi-player support as well as functionality with all mods from the beginning of the game without the need of patches. The game will also be as easy or easier to mod than the original was due to bug-fix integration.
The game also includes new Player Character voice sets. Native support for high resolution wide screen displays (2048 is a target). Over 400 improvements to the original game. The iPad and Android contain platform specific interface enhancements. The Enhanced Edition of Baldur’s Gate has been given an extensive overhaul. The original source code has been cleaned up and improved, sped up and now has support for modern platforms. Over 400 issues have been found and fixed.
Baldur’s Gate 2 Features: All of the additions and improvements from Baldur’s Gate 2: The Shadows of Amn have been brought to Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition. Now you can use class kits, new subraces and classes that were previously unavailable.
New Cinematics: All of the Baldur’s Gate cinematics have been replaced with beautifully hand painted animated cinematics, directed by Nat Jones.
Ongoing Support: Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will continue to receive improvements after release, along with continued support for the vibrant mod community that has helped it remain so popular for so long.
